There were many happy faces at the IW College on GCSE results day last Thursday, as students picked up the grades that will help them take their next steps in education.
Seventeen-year-old Bailey Arnell said he was “very happy” with his results, particularly in maths. He explained: “I’ve worked very hard for my maths. Now I’m going on to do Level 2 bricklaying at the college because I’ve just completed Level 1, before hopefully heading to the mainland to study Level 3.”
For Emily Bindley, the day was especially rewarding after overcoming challenges. She said: “I didn’t think I was going to pass, it’s my third try, so I wasn’t too sure. But yeah, I’m really happy!. I’m now going to do the T-Levels in Childcare, which is definitely what I want to do in the future.”
Maths teacher, Dymtro Buyanov-Taylor, praised the determination shown by students this year. He said: “It’s always the best part of the job to see them succeed. The ones who put in the work do really well and that’s what we see here.”
