Don’t miss the Loo-vre in Ryde’s Department

Time is running out to see The Loo-vre exhibition at Ryde’s Department, the arts venue in Cross Street.

The five artistically transformed toilets were previously installed at Quay Arts after making unexpected appearances at beauty spots across the Island, including Ventnor Park and Brading Down.

The project is a collaboration with One Wight Health and features work by artists Maddy Dobson, Nathan Holt, Gemma Mallinson, Holly Maslen, and Josh Raffell. Each toilet has been uniquely decorated to reflect the artist’s vision and is now part of a “Toilet Trail” through the Department.

Project coordinator Fiona Seymour said the exhibition offers a playful way for the community to engage with art. “It’s about making creativity accessible and fun,” she said.

The Department’s Joe Plumb added: “We love celebrating local artists, and these works do that in a fun and meaningful way.”

The Loo-vre exhibition is open at the Department from Tuesday to Saturday until the end of August.
