Shanklin, West Wight, and Brading reached the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup, after competitive matches, Roman, Isaac Glynn, scored a hat-trick, Cowes claimed a Wessex win, and Shanklin Ladies scored 4 in Hampshire victory.
IW and Hants Cups
Shanklin claim a place in the Challenge Cup semi-finals, after a 2-0 home win against Cowes Reserves, with Rory Day scoring in the first half and Jamie Trowbridge after the break. Keeper, Ash Goldsmith, pulled off a vital penalty save, after ref, Peter Cotton, awarded a penalty for hand-ball, with Dan Field having an outstanding match at sweeper.
West Wight also reaches the semi-finals, after winning 4-2 on penalties, after drawing 2-2 at Bembridge & Vectis. Casey Tyrell and Ash Brett netted for West Wight, with Jamie Barratt and sub, Jez Conway, on target for a disappointed Bembridge, who also lost centre-back Jake McNaney with a broken tibia.
Brading Town also won their quarter-final 6-1 away at Osborne Coburg, with a hat-trick for Isaac Glynn, 2 for Liam Reynolds and 1 for Caleb Dyer, with the consolation goal from Jason Pengelly.
Sandown & Lake won 5-0 away at Wickham Dynamos, in the Hants Vase, with goals from Dylan Andrews, Jim Cantelo, Ethan Dicker, Shay Dixon, and Jimmy Golding. Goals from Andrew Ebbs, Finlay Ray, Chris Turner, and Aiden Jones saw East Cowes Sports win 4-0 at home against Ryde Saints. AFC Solent were awarded their match against East Cowes Vics Reserves.
Yateley overcame Brading Res 6-2, with consolation goals from Jamie Linington. West Wight Res lost 2-1 at home to Comrades, with Archie Goddard getting a late consolation goal.
Divisions One and Two and Combination One
Lewis Blackmore (2), Charlie Butt, Barney Snaith, and Connor Mooney score in Northwood’s 5-2 away win at Oakfield in Division One.
In Division Two, Niton won 4-0 away at Newchurch.
Seaview won 3-2 at home to Pan, with goals from Brandon Smith, Jack Faithfull, and sub, Isaac Phillimore.
Combination One’s West Wight Res drew 4-4 at home to Bembridge & Vectis Res, with Lewis Parker-Meadows, Reece Sibley, Bobbie Wye, and sub, Jai Snow, on target for the third-placed visitors. Liam Blythe, Cameron Ring, and George Saunders (2) scored for West Wight.
Goals from Jason Kennett (2), Harley Kennett, James Flux, and Charlie Morris, along with an own goal, saw Ventnor Reserves win 6-1 away at Sandown Reserves.
Wessex
Cowes won 2-1 at home to Portland United in the Premier Division, with goals from Scott McFarlane in the first half, and the returning Will Bridi after the break, with midfielder, George Colson, player of the match.
Frustrated East Cowes Vics narrowly lost 3-2 at home to Baffins Milton Rovers, with Jake Wright giving Vics the first half lead. Elliot Wheeler made it 2-0 at half time, but the visitors’ strength and depth saw them score 3 goals in the last 30 minutes.
In Division One, Newport’s match at Blackfield & Langley was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch and, off the field, Paul Rushton becomes a director of the Club.
Women’s Hants Football
Shanklin won 4-0 away at United Services Portsmouth, with Gemma Woodford giving Islanders the first-half lead. After the break, Thea Broadhead added 2 more and Grace McDonald completed the scoring to see Shanklin in second spot, with 3 games in hand on leaders, Portchester.
In Division Two, Wight Eagles drew 2-2 at home to Rushmoor Community, with goals from a Tawnie Siddall header and an Aimee Rann strike. The point sees the Island side sitting at fifth in the table.
