By Press Release Apr 28, 2023

More than 100 carers, from organisations across the Island, attended the 2023 IW Care Awards, at Northwood House on April 21, which were hosted by the IW Care Partnership and sponsored by Isle of Wight Council, WightFibre, and Wight Cleaning Supplies.

The partnership comprises care providers on the Isle of Wight, and was established in 2017 to support the interests of care for people on the Island. The organisation currently represents the interests of over 960 beds and 10,400 hours of domiciliary care on the Island.

This was the first awards ceremony to be held since the Covid pandemic, so there was a lot to celebrate. The awards recognize the hard work and dedication of individuals in the adult social care sector, who have made a positive impact across a range of categories. The winners were: Chef of the Year – Jackie Taylor of Northbrooke House, Keeping House – Denise Abbot of Inglefield, Dignity in Care – Eleni Dove and Jo Dewen from The Limes, Dementia Carer of the Year – Dawn Alabaster of The Limes, IW Council Outstanding Contribution Award – Amber Devine of Ryde House Group, Deputy Manager of the Year – Lucy Reardon of Northbrooke House,

Registered Manager of the Year – Kat Cotton of Northbrooke House, Nurse/Carer of the Year – John Ostacchini of People Matter IW, WightFibre My Hero Award – Emma Blyth of Apex Prime Care.

Dawn Alabaster said: “I’m overwhelmed with the award and I’m back to myself again at long last. The support colleagues have given me over the last two years has been amazing. Thank you.”

John Ostacchini was also thrilled to win an award. He said: “I am honoured to receive this award on behalf of all personal assistants who work in the community to provide care and support to Island residents.”
