The Sweetcorn Fayre has been a highlight of the Island’s event calendar for the last 12 years.
Celebrating the harvest of the Island’s sweetcorn, the event is packed with
entertainment including live music, carnival performances, games for all the family,
sweetcorn speed eating and guest appearances from Bob the Cob, Connie Corn and their
little one, Nora Niblet.
Aside from all the fun, charity has been at the heart of the Sweetcorn Fayre since its
inception. This year, Arreton Barns raised over £20,000 for two deserving causes: Beaulieu
Respite Care and Challenge & Adventure who will receive £10,000 each.
Jane Gibbs, owner of Arreton Barns commented “we are pleased to have been able to support these amazing Island charities for several years now. A huge amount of time and effort goes into organising the Sweetcorn Fayre and we are very fortunate to be able to help our local community, it is the reason we do this every year.”
The money will help both charities to continue the hard work they do. Tony Wake from
Beaulieu Respite said “our charity is manned solely by volunteers so each and every penny
is spent on the children we care for. We would not be able to do half the work we do if it was not for the generous donation we receive from businesses such as Arreton Barns.”
