Army prepares to leave the Island

Some of the Army personnel who have been on the Island for the past two weeks to help combat the coronavirus outbreak, are preparing to leave.

Members of the Scots Guards have been helping create extra bed space at St Mary’s Hospital.

They have also assisted with the construction of a special clinical area at the hospital as well as assembling spare beds from the former Camp Hill prison, virtually opposite St Mary’s, which closed in 2013. Meanwhile, the Isle of Wight’s Army Rifles will continue to carry out work on the Island.
