20th Isle of Wight Marlins Masters Open Swim Meet

The 20th Isle of Wight Marlins Masters Open Swim Meet has taken place at the Medina Swim Centre.

With 79 entries from all across the South of England and the Island there were some very competitive races. This included one of the younger Masters swimmers who was competing as part of her A Level’s.

The Overall Top swimmer, and winner of the Charles Ambler trophy, was the Islands Jenny Ball with a haul of 27 points. The Top Male, and winner of a Paul Critchley ‘sculptglass’ trophy, was Julian Halcox from Bracknell & Wokingham with 24 points. Top Female, and winner of a Pau Critchley ‘sculptglass’ trophy was Susan Cummings from Banbury SC with 22 points.

The Top Team, and winners of The Heights Memorial Trophy were Bracknell & Wokingham with a massive 224 points. Bob Cooper, ASA Referee said ‘This was one of the largest number of entries in recent years and the quality and competitiveness shown by the swimmers augers well for the future of Master’s Swimming. With swimmers from 12 Clubs it shows our Meet is becoming a popular day and weekend away on the Island.’
