Last night local running club West Wight Road Runners made their weekly club run a ‘Food Bank Run’. 20 runners met in Freshwater each with items to donate to the IW Food Bank. They then ran with their items to the local drop-off station at Tescos.

Once in store they all put their food and toiletry donations into the collection point and then carried on with the rest of the evenings 5.5 mile run.

Club Captain Gemma Swain said: “This is the second time we have done The Food Bank Run. It’s a national movement that began at Fareham running club and has now seen over 500 groups take part. Our club is only small but we all know that any donation makes a difference to the Food Bank. We’d love to see other running clubs on the Island do the same during their club runs.”
