West Wight Sports & Community Centre is urging Islanders to help them win a £5,000 grant to support local children and young people, and every vote counts.
The Freshwater-based centre is in the running once again for the Benefact Group’s ‘Movement for Good’ grant, with this round open for votes next week from Sunday (June 16) until Saturday. The focus is on charities working with children and young people, something central to the centre’s mission. From baby and toddler sessions to dance classes, school swimming, and holiday programmes, the centre plays a vital role in supporting the health, well-being and development of young Islanders.
Centre manager, Clare Griffin, said: “We’re so proud of the opportunities we offer, and this funding would help us do even more. A vote takes seconds, but it could make a huge difference.”
The centre narrowly missed out in the previous round of voting earlier this year, but says the support from the community has strengthened its determination. Anyone in the UK can vote, and the centre is asking Islanders to encourage friends, family and contacts across the country to take part.
To vote, visit iw.observer/vote-wwscc between June 16 and 22 and search for West Wight Sports & Community Centre.
