Todd the dachshund lands a place at Crufts

Todd with a proud Charlotte

A handsome dachshund gave his proud owners an expensive day out at Crufts.

Sunday was Hound & Terrier Day at Crufts, the world’s biggest dog show, held at Birmingham’s NEC. Island-based dachshunds, Todd and Sybil, were there to strut their stuff in the hound group. The dogs are co-owned by Louise Rippon and Charlotte Ratsey-Woodroffe, of Preziosa Dachshunds.

Sybil, a home-bred 15-month-old miniature dachshund, shaded red, was entered into Junior Bitch class. She performed well, but wasn’t placed. However, Todd, a 2-year-old standard dachshund, a handsome red Bulgarian import was entered into Post Graduate dog and, after being placed third, has automatically qualified for Crufts 2025.

Charlotte said: “I was so thrilled with how both dogs performed, they really did us proud and I couldn’t have asked any more of them. When Todd placed third under judge, Frank Kane, the man who does the voice-over for best in show at Crufts, I was in shock. It was just such a wonderful experience and we celebrated by spending too much money at the shopping stands!”
