Tea with Rich – no Rich Tea!

By Press Release Jun 9, 2023

The Isle of Wight Labour Party wants to hear your views, concerns and worries – and you can let them know your thoughts in the comfort of your own home.

Labour councillor and chairman of IW Labour, Richard Quigley, who plans to run to become an MP, has started a new initiative called “Tea with Rich”, and if you’d like to chat with him – he’d like to chat with you. He explained: “A general election is on the horizon, and Islanders are feeling the pain of the last 13 years of chronic government underfunding. We know the big issues are housing, ferries and NHS dentistry, but there are a myriad of other issues affecting Islanders that we want to hear about.

“We will have two MPs on the Island after the next general election, which should mean twice as much representation at Westminster. It’s important that we hear as many voices as possible, to make the most of having two MPs.

“We are still doing traditional campaigning, but realise some people aren’t keen on big gatherings or simply can’t make it, so I will come to you.”

The latest the next general election can be called is January 28, 2025, but the Prime Minister is likely to call one next year. Prime Ministers rarely allow Parliament to run for a full term, as they can time the election to their advantage.
