Take a trip to see an iconic garden

By IW Observer.co.uk May 11, 2022

Ventnor Botanic Garden Friends’ Society is hosting a trip to the flagship garden of the Royal Horticultural Society, Wisley.

RHS Wisley is one of the great gardens of the world. Covering 240 acres, it is a hub of horticultural excellence and home to some of the largest plant collections anywhere in the world.

The trip is on Thursday, June 9, and costs ÂŁ48 per head, which will cover travel from Ryde, via hovercraft and coach, to RHS Wisley, entrance, including a tour and copy of the new guidebook, with plenty of time to explore at leisure.

There are still some places available for garden enthusiasts.

The costs are heavily discounted as the Friends’ Society is affiliated to the Royal Horticultural Society.

Two of Ventnor Botanic Garden’s apprentices, funded by the Friends, have won places at Wisley to study for its prestigious diploma in recent years – David Pearce graduated in 2020 and Ellis Gant will be starting his two-year course this September.
