Members of Sandown Town Council have taken the decision to close the Broadway Centre, with immediate effect, following the announcements made by the Government on Monday 16th March, at 6:00 pm.

Deputy Mayor Paul Brading said ‘We are very mindful of our public responsibility, and the Government announcement informed our decision, and we regret the impact this decision has on our users and user groups, and continue to monitor the situation, returning to normal as soon as the situation permits’.

Sandown Town Council will be working to put in place other measures to support local health groups, as well as signpost social support networks for individuals that are isolated or at risk, and will also be ensuring statutory responsibilities are maintained.

Cllr Brading added ‘Public Health guidance is changing on an almost daily basis, and we have a duty to our staff, centre users and residents to follow guidance in the best interests of all; as well as contributing, as best we can, to the community effort to mitigate the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic’.

Sandown Town Council will maintain phone contact (01983 408287) between 9:00 am and noon, Monday to Friday, as well as updates on its websites.
