RSPCA Isle of Wight is turning up the heat and issuing its most daring challenge yet! They’re looking for 100 brave Islanders to take part in a firewalk challenge, an opportunity to walk barefoot across red-hot embers to raise vital funds for the Island’s most vulnerable creatures.
Life for the animals at the Island Animal Centre is often a stark reality of rescue, recovery, and rehabilitation from severe cruelty. This essential work costs a massive £750,000 every year, and with less than 10 per cent of that coming from the national RSPCA, the charity relies almost entirely on local generosity. Every pound raised from this fiery feat translates into shelter, veterinary care, and a second chance at happiness for a neglected animal.
The firewalk challenge will be held at Havenstreet Station on Saturday, November 8, and offers a uniquely dramatic way to show your community spirit and love for animals.
Don’t worry about the heat – full, expert-led training will be provided on the day to guide you safely over the coals. No prior experience is needed, just a healthy dose of courage!
“All they need to bring is their bravery,” said Fundraising Manager Veronica Chrisp. For a £25 registration fee, you can secure your spot and help the charity make a real difference.
Registration costs £25 per person. To sign up, visit iw.observer/fire-walk.
