Police appeal for witnesses following Shanklin assault

Police on the Isle of Wight are appealing for witnesses to an assault that took place in Shanklin yesterday (Thursday 14th).

A number of officers were called to Regent Street, Shanklin at around 12.40am, by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

A 32-year-old man was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, to be treated for a fractured eye socket and cheekbone, which required surgery.

Enquiries are ongoing, including reviewing CCTV in the area.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He has since been released from custody without charge and will face no further action.
