Ryde Lions Club raised more than £1,200 for Ukraine Refuges, following a collection outside the town’s Anglesea Street Co-Op on Saturday (March 12).

The Fruit Bowl IW also donated a large selection of homemade jam, with more than 100 being sold to members of the public.

A spokesman said: “Thank you to everyone for being very generous with your donations to this appeal. There are more donations still coming in, so the final total will take a couple of days.

“Anyone who missed our collection point, and would like to donate, please message us to make arrangements.

“Our members pay dues, so no portion of this collection goes to admin costs. All monies donated will be sent to Lions Clubs along the Ukrainian border to be used where needed.”
