Comicoffee’s alternative event supports local art

Comicoffee hosted their fifth alternative art night on Friday, at their popular Cowes coffee house.

Comicoffee’s owner, Matt Sprooles, said they started their art exhibitions to “support local artists and give them a platform to get their work out there and seen.”

To show their support, artists are not charged a fee for the hosting of the events. This opportunity has given a number of local artists a platform to creatively express themselves, as well as fight any anxieties that may make it difficult for them to attend events such as this.

Many artists have flourished as a result of the exhibitions, taking them to new levels of success and recognition. Comic artist, Dan Digby, has been running his own art classes, as well as recently publishing his first comic book. Another exhibitor, Lily Lofthouse, has become a highly popular

and successful tattoo artist. Art workshops for young people are being run in Ryde by Idolmind, whilst Scribbler is going from strength to strength with his “incredibly unusual art pieces”.
