Can you help Age UK IW ‘Spread the Warmth’ across the Island?

Age UK Isle of Wight is encouraging those Island residents who don’t need their Winter Fuel payment to consider donating all or part of it to help other older Islanders.

The annual, tax-free payment was automatically paid to those born before September 25, 1957, regardless of their financial circumstances. The ‘Spread the Warmth’ campaign is asking those, who haven’t needed to use it, to make difference by donating it to a local independent charity to provide essential services to those in need this winter. From ensuring access to warm clothing to organising social activities and companionship, Age UK IW aims to help older people live well and stay connected during the winter months.

“We understand that not everyone requires their winter fuel payment immediately, and we encourage those, who are in the fortunate position of doing so, to consider donating it,” said Maria Bunce, Age UK IW’s CEO. “By spreading your warmth, you can make a real difference in the lives of those who may be feeling isolated and alone during this challenging time of year.”

Other ways to support the campaign include getting involved in the ‘Wrap Up and Walk’ fund-raising challenge, and keeping an eye out in local shops for the charity’s Winter Warmers, including hats and scarves knitted by volunteers. You can also donate by calling 525282 or donating £3, £5 or £10 by texting AGE3, AGE5, or AGE10 to 70711 (network charges may apply). The campaign will run until the end of March.
