Officers from the South Wight Neighbourhood Police Team held a successful bicycle register at Morrison’s supermarket, in Lake last Saturday, with cyclists queueing up for the free service to make their bikes less appealing to thieves.
PCSOs Jacquie May and Ash Webb registered bikes in a process that took under three minutes, and involved the use of BikeRegister’s security marking kits.
Visible tamper-resistant labels were attached to bike frames, making them far harder for thieves to resell, and less likely to target.
Bikes marked with these stickers are 83 per cent less likely to be stolen than un-marked bikes. Marked bikes were also registered on the BikeRegister national cycle database.
