Charity Easter duck races will take place across the Island over the weekend.

Tomorrow (Saturday), Aspire, Ryde is holding its race at Shide from 12noon with 1,000 ducks racing down the river raising money for the charity.

Ducks for sale, £1 each, at Wight Building Supplies, Dairyman’s Daughter, Bargeman’s Rest, Jewson Sandown, Aspire Cafe and Aspire shop ARCH, or on-line at totalgiving.co.uk/mypage/duckrace22.

Later in the day, the Yarmouth Carnival Committee will hold its event on the River Yar by the town’s Sailing Club at 3pm. Tickets £1, available from Holdings Newsagents, Harwoods Chandlers and Yarmouth Pharmacy as well as the Sailing Club. Money raised will go towards the committees many events held throughout the year. There will also be fancy dress duck competition for the town’s businesses.

Calbourne will have its own event on Easter Sunday, at Winkle Street, from 11.30am. Tickets, £1, with money towards the village hall.
