Wear colours, raise funds and get a funky new jacket!

Donna models a few of the 85 jackets that will be on show

Tomorrow (Saturday) sees one of Ryde’s most well-known characters, the artist, comedian and social commentator, Donna Jones, launching her latest collection of up-cycled fashion.

Donna has been busy over the winter sewing together costumes in her characteristic outlandish styles that have proven hugely popular with previous audiences. Tomorrow, from 7pm at The Depozitory in Nelson Street, 31 models aged from six to 82, will pose in the clothes created from more than 85 donated jackets. Every item will be available for a donation of £25 to the Isle of Wight Pop Up Soup Kitchen.

Donna explained: “I am passionate about developing women’s confidence through upcycling clothes.

“Why be ordinary, when you can be extraordinary? The theme of the event is Paris in the Springtime, so think Moulin Rouge and colour.

“My challenge to everyone who comes this year is to wear the brightest colours you can – let’s light up the room!”

With live music from local band, Clear the Beach, entry to the event costs £7, and is the sixth consecutive year of Donna’s fund-raising fashion shows.
