This week’s cricket report in brief as season comes to an end

With the cricket season coming to a close, there are matches planned with touring sides. Shanklin & Godshill braved the rain to play the annual Dave Porter Memorial Match, with players past and present. The veterans reached 56-1 before the match was stopped in the 13th over.

Midweek, former Ventnor player, Travis Head, opened for Australia against England in the T20s and scored a sparkling 59. He will be taking part in other matches in the series over the coming days.

This Saturday’s fixtures include Ventnor v Spye Park, Ryde v Gravesendians, and Shanklin 1st v Hilsea 1st.

Arreton Cricket Club are hosting an end of season fun-day Saturday from 11am-3pm. There is free entry with a fun dog show, bouncy castle, face painting, games and raffle, vintage amusements, ice cream, candy floss, barbecue, music and entertainment, circus workshop, special guests and stall holders.
