The Island’s football report for this week

Nearpost Shanklin header in win against High Park

This week saw hat-tricks for Newchurch’s Joe Fallone, Brading’s Liam Bennett, East Cowes Sports Roland Bryan, Whitecroft & Barton’s Mark Augustus, and Shanklin Ladies’ Gemma Wooford and Thea Broadhead. There was also an FA Vase win for Cowes Sports and an emphatic Hampshire win for Shanklin Ladies.

IW Divisions One and Two

Division One’s Brading Town won 9-1 at home to Northwood with Liam Bennett hitting 4, and 2 goals apiece from Caleb Dyer and Mitchell Walker, and another from sub Alex Hatton.

Jason Pengelly’s first-half strike saw Osborne Coburg secure a 1-0 win at Cowes Res.

Bembridge & Vectis won 3-2 away at Ventnor, with the home side opening the scoring in the 6th minute with the first of Emerson Tattersall’s two goals. The visitors hit back through Harry Symes, Sam Kirby and Jamie Barratt.

West Wight won 8-1 at Oakfield, after a minute’s silence was held in memory of former Oakfield manager Andy Venn. Once play started, Nathan Roberts scored for Oakfield after 6 minutes, with the visitors replying through Casey Tyrell (2) and Josh Daley (2), alongside goals from Gareth Bricknell, Zak Harris, Luke Phillips and Chris Elliott.

At the County Ground, Shanklin scored a goal in both halves to win 2-0 against High Park, with Chandler Builth opening the scoring on 30 minutes, and Rory Day securing the 3 points late in the second half.

In Division Two, leaders Sandown & Lake won 6-1 away at Niton, with Alex Breingan, Nick Cantelo, Louis Day, Callum Chambers, Rob Iley and Ethan Dicker on target for Sandown, and Sam Hatton hitting the consolation goal.

Newchurch won 6-0 at home to valiant Seaview, with a Joe Fallone hat-trick, one from veteran Keith Rust and 2 from David Haynes. Ryde Saints won 4-2 at Smallbrook against Pan, with a goal each for Alfie’s Bradley and Donavan, and 2 from Luke Garrett.

East Cowes Vics Res won the derby against East Cowes Sports 4-1 with 2 from Ollie Sweatman, and 1 apiece from Macauley Barnes and sub Lucas Baker, with Andy Ebbs on target for the Sports.

Combinations One and Two

Combination One leaders W&B Res won 4-0 at home to Oakfield Res, with a Mark Augustus hat-trick and 1 from Matt Evans.

High Park Res won a 10-goal thriller, beating West Wight Res 6-4, with consolation strikes from Liam Blythe, Charlie McFarlane and Jordan Flynn.

In an end-to-end match, Bembridge & Vectis Res drew 4-4 at home to Ventnor Res, with Lewis Parker-Meadows, George Takel, Bobbie Wye and sub Theo Sampson on target for Bembridge. Harley and Jason Kennett, Connor Patrick and Tom Stead replied for the visitors.

East Cowes Sports Res won 7-1 at home to Shanklin Res, with a hat-trick for Roland Bryan, and 1 apiece from Stuart Chiverton, Boyd Jardine, Owen Stone-Broughton, and sub Darcy Mason-McBride, with George Heathfield netting for Shanklin.

Sandown & Lake Res came back from Sam Read’s early goal, to win 3-1 at home to Osborne Coburg Res, with goals from Dylan Andrews (2) and Jimmy Golding.

In Combination Two, 2 goals from Sam Hart and 1 from Tyler Thorne saw Binstead COB Res win 3-0 at home to Ventnor A.

Leaders High Park A won 10-1 at home to Newchurch Res, who scored through Chris Brereton.

Aaron Hartup was among those on target for Bembridge & Vectis A in their 6-0 home win over Ryde Saints Res.

West Wight A secured a 4-0 at home to Sandown & Lake A, with first-half goals from Adam Millar and  Jacob Dunn-Coleman. Simon Pilcher and Ben Winton added one each after the break.

Wessex League & Cups

Cowes won their home FA Vase match 2-1 against New Milton, with Callum Chase and Jared Tout-Walters securing a place in the next round.

East Cowes lost 2-0 away at Sherborne Town.

Also in the Vase, Newport lost 2-0 away Sturminster Newton.

Women’s Hants Leagues

Gemma Woodford (4) and Thea Broadhead (3) scored the goals in Shanklin Ladies 7-1 Division One away win at AFC Totton.

In Division Two, Wight Eagles lost 5-1 away at Alton, with the consolation goal from Jess Green.
