Seven swimmers from Ryde Swimming Club Masters dove into the Hampshire Masters County Championships last weekend and swam away with a mountain of medals.
Sinead Hailes (35–39) grabbed two golds and a silver, while Imogen Sussmes (30–34) secured a gold of her own. Proving age is just a number, Matthew Sussmes (60–64) scored an impressive three golds and a silver. And Jenny Ball (85–89), despite a shoulder injury, powered through to win two gold medals.
The younger swimmers also shone brightly. Isobel Foster (18–24) battled bruised ribs to earn two silvers and a bronze, while Harry Beacham-Clapp (18–24) scooped up two bronzes.
The mixed medley team of Jacob Jenner, Hailes, Foster, and Beacham-Clapp snagged a bronze. And in a nail-biting finish, the 200m freestyle team missed out on another bronze by just half a second.
With their masters section growing fast, Ryde Swimming Club is a force to be reckoned with. Look out for an even bigger team at their next competition!
