Piano delivered by bike to Priory School hall

Priory School struck a perfect chord yesterday after a piano was donated to the school by Mrs Lynch of East Cowes.

The instrument was transported in unusual style by Keert, the local green cargo bike company and friends of the school. While no traffic jams were caused, the sight of a piano being towed by bicycle raised a few eyebrows from passing drivers.

Actors from Ad Lib Theatre, who were rehearsing at the school, also lent a hand with the final push to move the piano inside. Photographs recorded each stage of the delivery, including the journey to the school.

Thanks went to Mr Lynch, head of performing arts, and Matt from Keert for ensuring the piano reached its destination. It now sits in pride of place in the main hall, ready to fill the school with music.

The unusual delivery was also part of the school’s commitment to sustainability, combining the reuse of a donated instrument with minimal carbon emissions.

Principal David Lloyd said the delivery showed how creativity, community and pedal power can come together — and that it was good fun too.
