A kayaker picked up an unusual hitchhiker while out on the Solent on a Saturday – a seal who decided to take a break.
Dave Worthington was part of a group from the IW Canoe/Kayak Club who were having a paddle when he was taken by surprise by his cheeky visitor.
He said: “It was quite a shock! We paddle all-year round but only get one close encounter like this a year. It’s certainly the first time I’ve had one actually try to climb aboard.”
If you are out kayaking, do not approach or chase seals, but if one appears near you, and you stop paddling, it may come up to you.
