Poppies inspire fund-raising art at Gurnard

Members of Cowes Art Group have painted poppy-themed pictures for a fundraising exhibition this Remembrance Sunday, November 11, at Gurnard Village Hall to mark the 100th commemoration of the end of  World War One.

All paintings and other crafty creations are priced between 50p to £20 and can be purchased by visitors.
All proceeds will be donated to the Royal British Legion. The exhibition is open to the public between noon-3pm. There will be tea and homemade cakes on sale.
Some of our artists had relatives who served in the Great War and so have put their stories on paper to create an additional interesting display.
Other events happening in Gurnard Village on Sunday include poppy-themed yarn bombing, a parade through the village, a service at All Saints Church and the lighting of a beacon at Gurnard Bay.
