MP toasts his toes – all for a great cause

Ever wanted to hold your MP’s feet to the fire? On November 8, you’ll get your chance – quite literally – as Richard Quigley, MP for Isle of Wight West, takes on the RSPCA Isle of Wight Firewalk.

The event, hosted at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway, in Havenstreet, aims to raise vital funds for the Island’s most vulnerable animals.

Participants will walk barefoot across red-hot embers to support the RSPCA’s work at the Island Animal Centre, in Godshill, where lots of animals are waiting for their forever homes.

“The Island Animal Centre plays a vital role in protecting and rehoming animals in our community,” said Mr Quigley. “Taking part in the Firewalk is my way of showing support for the incredible staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly every day to help animals in need. Plus, it’s a great excuse to do something completely mad for a very good cause!”

The RSPCA is encouraging locals to come along, cheer on the brave firewalkers, or even sign up themselves. Volunteers and fund-raisers are always needed to help the charity continue its essential work, which includes shelter, rehabilitation, and rehoming for hundreds of animals each year.

“We’re thrilled that Richard is joining our Firewalk,” said Veronica Chrisp, marketing and fund-raising manager. “His support helps shine a light on the challenges we face – and every step across those embers makes a real difference.”
