Isle of Wight pupils secured a clean sweep of top marks in the latest London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art (LAMDA) examinations.
All 51 pupils, including 38 from Ryde School, were awarded Distinction passes – the highest possible grade – following the exams last November.
The results, published last week, revealed 32 children gained marks of 90 or more, with five pupils obtaining 98 from a possible 100.
Ryde School teacher, Ellen Weeks, said: “It is a privilege to teach these hard-working young people, and to help them develop confidence and essential communication and performance skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.”
LAMDA examinations are internationally-recognised qualifications that develop communication, performance, and critical-thinking skills, through spoken English, drama, and performance. Higher-level awards carry UCAS tariff points, and are valued for the confidence and articulation they foster in young people.
The Island pupils ranged in age from five to 17 years, and sat examinations from Introductory Stage 1 through to Gold Medal in Verse & Prose and Acting.
