The Mountbatten hospice group, which includes Mountbatten Isle of Wight and Mountbatten Hampshire, has teamed up with Southampton Solent University to launch a new postgraduate course in palliative and end-of-life care.
Starting in September 2025, the accredited Level 7 module is aimed at healthcare professionals who want to develop their skills, knowledge and confidence in delivering compassionate end-of-life care.
Staff at Mountbatten are recognised leaders in this field, and the new course will focus on providing holistic, people-centred care that supports not just patients but also their families. Teaching will be led by Mountbatten’s multi-professional team of experts and delivered through interactive, scenario-based learning.
Dr Elaine Cockerham, Head of Education for the Mountbatten Group, said: “The importance of delivering best practice in palliative and end-of-life care cannot be overstated and this is a wonderful opportunity for healthcare professionals who want to expand their scope of practice to learn from our expert staff.”
Jan Parker, Head of Social Sciences and Nursing at Solent University, added: “We’re honoured to be working alongside Mountbatten Hospice. Their expertise and ethos align with our commitment to nurturing thoughtful, resilient healthcare professionals.”
