Care and health careers festival returns to Newport with more than 20 organisations

Islanders considering a career in care or health are invited to a Spring Care & Health Careers Festival, at Lord Louis Library, Newport, on Wednesday, May 27, from 10am to 2pm.

The IW Council event follows the success of its annual autumn festival and will bring together more than 20 local employers, organisations, and support services.

Visitors can drop in to speak directly with care providers, health services, training partners, and community organisations, and find out about roles including caring, nursing, administration, estates, maintenance, and support services.

New organisations attending include Island Jobs, offering advice on applications and job searches, and the Lighthouse Clinic, promoting health sector careers and vacancies.

The event is open to anyone wanting to explore local opportunities. There will also be advice on qualifications, training, and development. Martin Garbett, service manager and nominated individual at the IW Council, said the event helped showcase the “incredible breadth of opportunities” in the sector.

Emily Pratt, from the council’s recruitment team, said care and health careers suited a wide range of transferable skills.
