On Sunday (November 3) at 3pm, in the Garfield Road Methodist Church, Ryde, the Newchurch Male Voice Choir will be presenting a concert. It will bring to the fore three of their main aims, bringing male-voice singing to the public, supporting a local good cause, and giving young Island talent a platform to perform in public.
Sunday afternoon’s concert will feature a solo, by Richard Knowles, singing ‘The Holy City’, and a Victorian ballad, with the music written by Micheal Maybrick (who was five times Mayor of Ryde).
They will also be raising much-needed funds for the Museum of Ryde, a cause that receives no public funding and relies on visitors to the museum, public donations and volunteers to keep it open.
Guest artiste will be 13-year-old Will Kent. He attends the Island Free School, in Ventnor, and has been singing since he was five. Having attended Theartretrain, in Ryde, and Spotlight, in Shanklin, he has been in several shows at Shanklin and Medina Theatres. He now attends Platform One College, in Newport, and has won a place to perform, as a soloist.
Entry is free with a retiring collection.
