By Isle of Wight ObserverEmergency services responded to a 999 call on Wednesday (October 31) after a local resident reported youths torching a tree at Victoria Recreation ground, Newport.
A concerned member of the public called 999 at around 7pm after spotting youngsters setting fire to a tree with a blowtorch.
Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene at Recreation Ground Road shortly after 7pm.
Upon arrival they found a small fire in a wooded area which was extinguished with buckets of water.
