Waste services to transfer in April

County Hall has confirmed that waste collection and treatment services on the Island will be transferred from Thalia Waste Management as of April 1 next year.

French multinational Veolia meanwhile said it is pleased to provide ‘consultancy related services’ to the IW Council to help ensure the smooth running of its essential waste and recycling services.

The firm added it is looking forward to supporting the local authority over the coming months.

A council spokesman said: “The council wishes to reassure residents that waste collection and disposal services will continue without interruption during this period.

“The council is in discussions with another national waste services company to manage waste services from April 1.

“Further updates will be provided as and when they become available.”

A spokesman for Thalia Waste Management said: “All parties will continue to work in partnership to ensure the continued provision of these services and the smooth transition for residents and businesses on the Isle of Wight.”
