Island Roads staff have helped redecorate Chillerton & Gatcombe Village Hall, after a request from the community association.
The hall, which hosts church groups, music sessions, and coffee mornings, and is also available for private hire, required interior painting as part of a refresh.
After local residents prepared the space, five Island Roads employees – Pam Chinn, Maddy Clewett, Iain Thornton, Rachael Thornton and Geoff – carried out the work, repainting the hall in light green.
The volunteering took place as part of the company’s Employee Volunteering Scheme, which allows staff to spend two days each year supporting community projects.
Phillipa Veitch, association treasurer, said: “We cannot thank the team enough for all their help. They worked like Trojans and got on with the job so fast I almost wished we’d been organised enough to have the kitchen and bathroom ready to be painted as well.”
Iain Thornton said the team was pleased to support the project. He said: “It was grey and rainy outside but the mood inside was bright as we got to work on the hall. It is great to make a difference to our Island community and my colleagues and I enjoyed meeting people and helping out.”
Association committee members provided refreshments for the volunteers during the day.
