Ventnor top scorer Jack Powell on way to unbeaten 66 at Arreton

The Island’s outdoor cricket season returned at Arreton as Ventnor’s Sunday side scored 199 all out in 35 overs, after being invited to bat first. Jack Powell top scored on 66 not out, and Dan Cox hit 51 before retiring. Arreton bowler, Dan Ward, took 3-23, with wickets also taken by Rob Wilcox, Kevin Cooper, Callum Witham, and Baylee Beecroft.

In reply, Arreton scored 112 all out in 22 overs, with skipper, Kevin Cooper, hitting 51 before being bowled by Powell, with wickets also taken by Sam Read, Kayton Evans, Toby Noyes, Alfie Toulson, and Ben Fry. Despite their efforts Ventnor won by 87 runs.

Arreton have organised a 4k (2½ mile) walk in aid of Cancer Research from 11am on Sunday, April 21, with a picnic at the end.
