In an end-to-end battle at fortress Smallbrook, the Island Women’s 1st XI won 4-2 against Petersfield, in Division Two South, and are now in second place by 1 point from Romsey. There were 2 goals apiece from Evie Fairhurst and Saffron Hart, with both players sharing the player-of-the-match title.
The 2nd XI lost 3-1 away at Petersfield, with Layla Holbrook scoring for the Islanders, and Aly Townend player-of-the-match.
The Isle of Wight Men’s 1st XI won 6-1 at home to Bournemouth, in Division Two South, with goals from Adam Payne, Rueben Smallwood-Butler, Aaron O’Hanlon-Hoare, Kit McChesney, Joe Arnold, and player-of-the-match Ethan Edmunds-Lamb.
Tom Young scored the Men’s 2nd XI goal in their narrow 2-1 defeat at second-placed Gosport Borough, in Solent One, with Seb Foster player of the match.
On Sunday the IW U-14 side lost 5-2 away at Southampton U-14.
Fixtures
This weekend sees both first teams enjoying a well-earned half-term break for this weekend. The second teams will be back in action with rearranged home fixtures at Smallbrook. The IW Men’s 2nd XI v Fareham 6th XI will play at 11am and IW Ladies’ 2nd XI v Portsmouth 3rd XI at 12.30pm.
