On Saturday, 16-year-old Chichester sailor, Tate Kump, set off in his ILCA dinghy to tackle a 60‑mile solo circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight. Expected to take between 12 and 14 hours, he crossed the finish line in just seven hours and 35 minutes.
“Many of my friends and family have been affected by cancer, and I wanted to do something that would make a real difference,” Tate said.
His mother, Bella Kump, said: “We are incredibly proud of Tate. He is motivated by a desire to help others, and this challenge is a testament to his determination and compassion.”
