The weekend saw a strong team of Ryde Swimming Club members, competing at the annual IW Marlins Masters event at Medina Leisure Centre.
Twenty-two other clubs took part, mostly from the mainland.
Ryde’s 10-strong squad was made up of Ollie Watts, Jacob Jenner, Romain Jonneau, Severine Mouletin, Isobel Foster, Sinead Hailes, Kim Holmes, Jenny Ball, and Imogen and Matthew Sussmes, several competing for the first time in a masters event. The team secured second place overall, behind Bracknell & Wokingham SC, coming in with an impressive medal haul of 21 golds, five silvers and two bronze positions. Jenny Ball was the top IW swimmer.
The club also entered eight relays and won six golds and a second place, with the Ryde B Mixed Medley team managing a surprising win, despite a slower entry time than the Ryde A Mixed Medley squad.
