Still time to apply for Isle of Wight Foundation funding

Local community groups and charities are being reminded of the opportunity to apply for a grant from the Isle of Wight Foundation, a charitable trust established by Island Roads and its partners.

Groups have until noon on Friday 4 May to apply for grants of between £3,000 and £16,000 to support projects with the specific aim of tackling social exclusion on the Isle of Wight.

This is the fifth year the Foundation is awarding grants to worthy causes, with over a quarter of a million pounds donated to 25 Island projects so far.

Last year’s recipients included St Catherine’s School, Age UK, the Island Riding Centre, The Bus Shelter, Isle of Wight Beach Soccer and The Wave Project. Each project focussed on the Foundation’s aims of reducing social exclusion by building better communities and improving access to employment.

“Since the Isle of Wight Foundation was launched in 2013 we have been delighted to support a wide range of projects which have had a hugely positive impact on people’s lives,” said Philip Horton, chair of the Isle of Wight Foundation Board.

“Island Roads and its partners are not only passionate about improving the Island’s highways network, we are also passionate about the community in which we live and work and are very proud to be able to support a wide range of worthy projects which are doing incredible work to tackle social exclusion on the Island.

“We are very much looking forward to receiving applications for this year’s grants, remember to get your applications in before noon on 4 May.”

The Isle of Wight Foundation is jointly funded by Island Roads, Meridiam and VINCI UK. Details of how to apply for funding and eligibility criteria can be found at www.islandroads.com or by calling Island Roads on 01983 822440.
