Shanklin has a cracking ground – that’s official

Volunteers at Shanklin Football Club have received the Grounds Team of the Year Award.

Volunteer groundsman, Mick Newnham, received the prizes, which included a state-of-the-art line-marker, from Sacha Nicholas, Charlotte Brown and Peter Cooper, from Hampshire FA.

Shanklin chairman, Richard Priest, said: “Our thanks go to Mick, Brian, and all of the volunteers at the club. This award reflects the time and dedication they give to providing the best playing surface on the Island. I’d also like to thank our Hampshire colleagues for recognising their efforts.”

The club has just upgraded their clubhouse, installed a new fixture board, and submitted a planning application for new changing facilities, as well as renovating their existing facilities.
