An air ambulance was summoned to Ryde on Christmas Eve after reports of an
85-year-old woman suffering a heart attack.
A spokesperson for the ambulance service said the Hampshire and Isle of
Wight Air Ambulance attended the scene at an address in the Ryde area,
together with a land ambulance, at around 2.30 pm.
The helicopter then took the elderly woman to the Queen Alexandra
Hospital in Portsmouth.
Geoff Lewis’s mum was airlifted from the Island. She has been taken to the cardiac unit, she went into theatre on arrival. The family are now waiting for further news from the hospital.
Praising those involved, he said: “A big thank you goes out to the Paramedics and Air Ambulance staff, these essential services deserve the highest praise for their hard work.”
