Division One
Ryde A 10 v Ryde Goshawks 0, Ryde Revellers 2 v Ryde B 8.
Second-placed Ryde A continued their pursuit of Ryde C with a 10-0 whitewash of Ryde Goshawks, with Scott Lawson player-of-the-match. The Goshawks’ Charlie Stapleley was unlucky as he took the A team’s Rob Smith to five sets, but the experience of Smith showed as he won the fifth set 11-4.
Bottom-of-the-table Ryde Revellers struggled against Ryde B, although sub, Robin Clegg, who was playing up from the Second Division, and Spike Hughes won one each against the B team’s Bryce Wilson and Pat Thorley respectively, and Clegg also took Thorley to five sets, losing only on deuce in the final set. The final score was 8-2 to the B team.
Division Two
Havenstreet B 7 v Ryde Rovers 3, Shorwell Sinners 3 v Newport Vics B 7, Newport Vics A 8 v Ryde Rogues 2, Ryde Rising Stars 9 v Ryde Resisters 1.
Ryde Rising Stars continued with their fine form in their match against Ryde Resisters, winning 9-1, with Trevor Percival the sole winner for the Resisters. 13-year-old Theo Lewis was player-of-the-match. The Rising Stars look on course to finish second in the table, if they continue playing their best.
Havenstreet B are in third place after their match against Ryde Rovers. There were some close games, but Havenstreet came out on top, and the final score was 7-3, with Carl Rye player-of-the-match and unbeaten.
Leaders, Newport Vics A dropped a couple of points against Ryde Rogues, with Peter Clarke and Robin Clegg both winning against Newport’s Michael Jose.
Division Three
Shorwell Saviours 8 v Shorwell Saints 2, Cowes Baptists 8 v Ryde Raiders 2, Wroxall Lizards 7 v Wroxall C 3, Ryde Odd Balls 8 v Wroxall B 2.
Ryde Odd Balls scored a fine win against Wroxall B, with Gareth Lewis unbeaten and player-of-the-match, whilst team mate 14-year-old, Toby Payne, was also unbeaten, and paired with Lewis to take the doubles in five sets. Ryde won the match 7-3 to move into fourth place behind Newport Vics C.
Cowes Baptists moved up to second place after their 8-2 win against Ryde Raiders, whilst Wroxall A still look unbeatable at the top.
