Police remain at scene of fatal Porchfield house fire

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary remain at the scene of a fire that claimed the life of a pensioner on Wednesday evening.

Over twenty fire fighters and a water carrier tackled the Porchfield house fire.

Cordon tape can still be seen from the road sealing off the burnt structure. The remains are being closely guarded by a patrol car and a mobile Police station.

A private ambulance attended the property on Thursday after specialists from Hampshire Fire and rescue worked with Police scene of crime and fire investigators from the Isle of Wight Fire Service.

Investigators spent most of the day carrying out tests using a fire dog to check for signs of foul play. Hampshire Police have been approach for comment.

On Thursday a spokesman for the force said that blaze was not being treated as suspicious.
