Parish council plans to fund youth workers to combat bad behaviour

A Parish Council is hoping to fund two support workers in an attempt to combat the recent rise in youths causing anti-social behaviour in Newport.

Newport parish council hopes to allocate £800 to pay for the extra support workers after police officers arrested a large number of youths outside McDonald’s last weekend.

Councillor Julie Jones-Evans  made the money available from this year’s Parish Council budget and confirmed that they will be ‘proper youth workers’, and not volunteers.

The councillor has also met with an architect to see if the library alcoves near Church Litten can be transformed to deter crime and anti-social behaviour.
