Parish Council looking for local trades to fill Contractors List

Newport and Carisbrooke Parish Council are looking for reliable, local trades to fill their new Preferred Contractors List to help them with projects and regular maintenance.

NCPC has a skilled team already employed directly by the council and sometimes specialised help is also required for some jobs.

The council are inviting trades people to drop in to their Contractor’s Event between 3-6pm on Monday 25th March at The Pavilion, Victoria Recreation Ground, Newport. This will be an informal drop-in event and businesses of all sizes are welcome.

NCPC are responsible for a growing number of assets including public toilets, a cricket pavilion, town planters, three recreation grounds, play parks, outdoor gym equipment, allotments and changing rooms.

Cllr Julie Jones-Evans, Chair of the Assets and Facilities Committee said “It can sometimes be tricky getting quotes for work so there are often long delays of sometimes months, in getting the work we need completed. We want to be able to get on with some of the exciting projects we have planned for Newport & Carisbrooke so a ‘go to’ list of reliable traders will really help us do that.”

“We hope that meeting traders face to face and telling them about our plans will hopefully really help us build relationships. We especially hope to connect with locally based, small businesses.”

The council are looking for a variety of trades to come to the event for example electricians, plumbers, gas engineers, builders and plasterers.
