Man arrested in Newport following early morning police raid

A large number of police officers have executed a search warrant at a residential property in Newport this morning.

Police and sniffer dogs descended on Albany Road in the early hours of the morning and gained access to a property close to Hunnyhill Primary School.

Following the males arrest, officers searched the address along with a black vehicle understood to belong to the suspect.

A 46-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a class A drug and suspicion of handling stolen goods.

The man was taken into custody and is helping Police with their inquiries.
