Open Farm Sunday proves very popular

By Press Release Jun 16, 2023

Briddlesford Lodge Farm, at Wootton, once again invited visitors on Open Farm Sunday, to see behind the scenes on a working dairy farm, and all the places available were quickly booked up.

The farm has been in the hands of the Griffin family since 1923, when Charles and Mary Ellen Griffin brought their family, and 15 Guernsey cows, across the Downs from Adgestone, near Brading. All the present herd of 140 pedigree cattle are descended from those 15 cows, and they now produce rich milk, cream and butter, as well as a selection of distinctive award-winning farmhouse cheeses.

Visitors learned how their milk and dairy products are produced, and witnessed a working farm in action. Paul Griffin, partner, said, “The Griffin family was delighted to show visitors how we care for our beloved Guernsey cows, and the land that produces the food for them to eat. We farm to the highest standard of welfare and are proud to show off how we do it.”

Nunwell Farm was also open on the day and was fully booked.
