Hiss-terious guest in an Appley garden

A resident in Appley had a nasty shock when they spotted a Common North Carolina Grass Snake in their garden!

The snake, thought to be an escaped pet, is a nonvenomous North American snake, also called the grass snake or green grass snake.

It is bright green above and has a yellowish belly, affording it excellent camouflage in green vegetation and making it difficult to see in the wild.

The unwelcome visitor was captured by the RSPCA who said: “Our team took it to The Carisbrooke Vets, who checked it over. It has now gone to another animal charity which has appropriate housing. If you’re missing your beloved pet snake from the Appley area, please contact The Carisbrooke Vets.”
