A local charity is in advanced talks by buy the building in Pyle Street which houses the Isle of Wight County Press.
The freehold of the building, which has been the home of the newspaper for more than 30 years, has been on the market since last July through Hose Rhodes Dickson Commercial. Lori Little, the editor of the paper said that nothing has yet been signed.
The formerly locally-owned and independent County Press title was acquired by Newsquest Media Group in 2017. Newsquest owns more than 250 news brands and publications in the UK and is itself part of the American mass media holding company Gannett.
More details about the future of the building will be announced shortly.
